Q How do you know Scott and Travis?
A. I have actually known Scott and Travis since before they started the travistrek project so that must be about 4 or 5 years now. I initially met Scott as another member of an online football group of which we were both members.
Scott’s general attitude to life just blew me away, as it does with most people that meet him and I have tried to help him as much as I can with his Travistrek project ever since. The web sites definitely offer another avenue to fundraising and I am pleased with how well they have helped the dynamic duo thus far. Long may it continue.
Q What is your experience of previous Travistrek ventures?
A. As stated above, I have helped out with all the Travistrek projects so far and enjoy trying to think of new ways of raising funds online with Scott. We have managed to offer something different and a little bit more every year and have hopefully shown an improving trend during that time.
This latest Trek is a killer though. It is a huge challenge, purely for the mileage never mind anything else and the team will have to work harder than ever but, knowing Scott, he’ll do it with ease and an undoubted smile on his face.
Q What do you know about Guide Dogs?
A. Well, I actually know a lot about Guide Dogs now but, I have an advantage in that it is me who puts this site together, so over the years I have learned more and more as I’ve been adding all the relevant content.
Over 75 years for them now and experiencing the job that these dogs do makes you feel a little humble. The trainers do a fantastic job. I mean, ask yourself, and really think about it, a brand new blank page puppy – You know what you need it to do at the end of training so, where would YOU start? It’s impossible to estimate just how important a job they do. Power to them!
Q What are you looking forward to on the 2007 trek?
A. Having a break lol. The walking team undoubtedly has the toughest job here so don’t get me wrong but, all my efforts have to go into making the site long before the event itself. I’ve been doing nothing else for the last wee while so it will be nice when it’s all up and running like a well oiled machine. (or should I say, “like Travis” hehe)
As soon as it’s completed, I’ll be going on a wee walking / camping trip of my own and will get in some much needed practice as I fully intend and am looking forward to joining the team at various points of the Trek along the Pennine Way.
Q Anything else to add?
A. I would just like to wish the rest of the team, the very best of luck for the Trek. Not only for the Trek itself but, also that they all manage to stay fit and healthy during their training. I hope the site can bring in lots of extra funds for the Guide Dogs because that is how I get my buzz. Good Luck Scott, Travis and the team!
